Austrian Art Prize – Stangl, Staud and Co receive art prize

The artists who can look forward to receiving the Austrian Art Prize in their respective fields this year have been decided: seven artists and three collectives will be honored for their oeuvre. The awards are endowed with 15,000 euros each. In the field of music, for example, the 48-year-old Tyrolean avant-garde composer Johannes Maria Staud triumphed this year, in literature the 56-year-old author Thomas Stangl (“The Only Place”) came into play.

In the film category, director Christiana Perschon (“She is the other view”) is honored, Ines Doujak can be happy for fine arts, Lisl Ponger for photography, Margot Pilz for her honor in the media art category and Willy Puchner for best children – and youth author, especially since this section is considered biennially. In the field of performing arts, Toxic Dreams is just as much a collective as in the cultural initiatives. Here the association Lalish is honored.

And finally, the Hans Hollein Art Prize for Architecture, which is also associated with 15,000 euros, was unveiled on Tuesday. It has been awarded since 2016 and this year goes to the ARTEC architects Bettina Götz and Richard Manahl. “The award of the art prize is more than the recognition of outstanding individual achievements, the prize represents the diversity and excellence of contemporary domestic art,” congratulated Secretary of State for Culture Andrea Mayer (Greens).
