Austria Wien’s Dominant 6-0 Victory in Carinthians Hornets Match

Head coach Stefan Kenesei’s team was extremely dominant from the start and showed clear superiority on the field. The Violets set the tone early on and following a corner that was briefly saved, Dominique Bruinenberg made it 1-0 (4th). The young Alisa Ziletkina then had two excellent opportunities before Bruinenberg made it 2-0 following an action over Lena Triendl and another ball blocked by the goalkeeper (11th). The opponents tried to counteract with a compact block and aggressive defense.

Everything is clear at the break

An ideal pass from Lea Mauly through the opposing ranks enabled Ziletkina to run towards the goal alone – and might only be stopped by a foul in the penalty area. Captain Verena Volkmer coldly converted the penalty to make it 3-0 (17th). After just 17 minutes the course was set for the climb.

In the 38th minute, Triendl pushed the ball over the line following an outstanding combination between Jacqueline Hajek and Volkmer, 4-0 (38th). Shortly followingwards, Volkmer left an opponent standing, brought the ball from the right side to the middle and Ziletkina headed in to make it 5-0 (41st).

Confident promotion to the next round

We went into the half-time break with a comfortable lead, when Cynthia Adamu came on for Ziletkina and brought fresh impetus to the attacking game. A nice combination on the right enabled Hajek to serve her captain ideally and Volkmer increased the score to 6-0 (54′).

In the 56th minute, academy players such as Sophie Rapf, Vanessa Šabanović and Antea Batarilo replaced Katharina Schiechtl, Volkmer and Triendl and created numerous scoring opportunities. The seventh hit was in the air, but didn’t fall. In the 71st minute, Emma Eichberger celebrated her competitive debut in goal three days before her 17th birthday and left nothing to be desired in the remaining minutes. With a clear 6-0 win, the Violets advance to the next round of the Cup.

Stefan Kenesei: “I am very satisfied with the development in the last few weeks. We put in a very good performance once more today and never left any doubts as to which team will be in the quarter-finals!”
