The protest committee granted the Viennese objection, as the league and the club announced on Thursday. Senate 5 will decide on any conditions in the coming weeks, according to a statement from the Bundesliga. As in April 2021 and 2022, the financially troubled “Violets” did not receive a license from Senate 5 in the first instance. A lack of security for alternative financing was complained regarding, this has now been set up in a different way via guarantees.
“Of course we are relieved that we have received the license for the coming season. At this point I would like to thank all our partners who have helped us to additionally secure the alternative financing, even if – as has often been said – assume that we will not have to take advantage of this additional security,” said Austria board member Gerhard Krisch.
With Austria, the Young Violets from the 2nd division also receive approval for 2023/24. The SV Stripfing, which is involved in the Regionalliga Ost, was once more denied this by the protest committee. Stripfing can file a complaint with the Permanent Neutral Court of Arbitration within eight days.
