In the first game once morest England, Austria had a lot of work to do in defence, this time Irene Fuhrmann’s team took the initiative themselves. Above all, Julia Hickelsberger-Füller always caused danger on the right side.
After almost 20 minutes, Austria was rewarded for their efforts. Sarah Puntigam’s free-kick hit the far post, where right-back Katharina Schiechtl timed it just right to turn the ball around and Jacqueline Burns was unable to do anything regarding it.
The Northern Ireland goalkeeper also had a lot of work to do followingwards, but was able to distinguish herself several times and Austria missed good chances. Shortly before the end she was beaten once more when Naschenweng scored a left-footed shot to make it 2-0.
