Los Cabos (Mexico), February 24 (EFE).- The Australian Jordan Thompson, 40th in the world ranking, defeated the Norwegian Casper Ruud this Saturday 6-3, 7-6(4) to win the Los Cabos Tennis Open , his first title on the ATP tour.
After eliminating the German Alexander Zverev, first seed, this Friday, Thompson confirmed in the final once morest Ruud that he was having the best moment as a professional.
In the first set, the 29-year-old Australian showed great physical form; He hit 13 winners and won with a break in the sixth game. Ruud, 12th in the world rankings, was not bad, but he missed six break opportunities and that’s where the set went.
Ruud went out in the second set to recover the lost ground, in the second game he took advantage of four errors by Jordan and went ahead 2-0, however, he did not confirm the break.
