Jordan Bos. It is a name that the vast majority of Twente supporters have never heard of. The 21-year-old left back was born in Melbourne in Australia, is under contract with the Belgian KVC Westerlo and has Twente blood running through his veins. He would like to play for FC Twente, the club where his father once played in the youth academy. There was even contact with Jan Streuer, but it did not become concrete (yet).
The wish comes more from his father, who played in the youth academy of FC Twente in the past. He left Twente at the age of 23 and moved to Melbourne. Here he met his current wife. An Australian with Italian roots. Son Jordan played football for Melbourne City, but moved to Europe as quickly as possible, where he says he can develop better. Perhaps a basic player at FC Twente?
“Yes, that would be nice to one day play for FC Twente. To play in the Champions League,” he says in conversation with Vincent de Vries from the Algemeen Dagblad. “Although it is going a bit far to say that it is my big dream. Of course, it seems wonderful to me. But it is not that I think: my next club must necessarily be FC Twente. It might also be another club. just see what comes my way and what is best for me,” says Bos, who does not speak the Dutch language himself, except for a few dirty words and standard budgets.
Although Bos does not always play for his employer, he is already an Australian international. He has already played 13 times for The Socceroos. He recently took part in the Asian Cup, but he didn’t enjoy it much. Australia was sent home as one of the favorites in the quarter-finals. “Nice and nice, such a tournament. But of course we should and might have done much better there. That was unworthy of Australia.”
Jordan also has a Dutch passport, but as far as he knows he was not in the picture in the Netherlands. And even if that were the case, he wouldn’t have responded. “Even then I would have chosen Australia. My roots are in the Netherlands, I was born and raised in Australia. You have to respect that, I think. I am very happy that I play for Australia.”
Bos still has a continuous contract with Westerlo until mid-2027. His current market value is estimated at 1 million euros.
