Russian Karen Khachanov qualifies for the semi-finals of the Australian Tennis Championships, with the withdrawal of his American opponent, Sebastian Korda.
Russian Karen Khachanov qualified for the semi-finals of the Australian Tennis Championships, after his American opponent, Sebastian Korda, was forced to withdraw during the third set due to an injury.
The result was world number 20 Khachanov leading 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, 3-0 before Korda retired.
Khachanov will play in the semi-finals against the winner of the match, Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, ranked fourth in the world, and Czech Jiri Lichka, ranked 71 in the world.
This is the second time that Khachanov has qualified for the semi-finals of a major tournament, after qualifying for the semi-finals of the “Flushing Meadows” tournament last year.
It is possible that Khachanov will play against Tsitsipas, who beat him in the previous five matches.
