A tragedy occurred this Monday in northern Australia. A helicopter crashed onto the roof of the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Cairns. The pilot unfortunately died.

“The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft has been located and declared dead.”

This Monday morning, a helicopter crash occurred on the roof of the Hilton Hotel in Cairns, in northern Australia.Australiacausing a fire at the top of the building. This tragedy led to a mass evacuation of the premises. While emergency services reported two injuries, the police said that “The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft was located and declared dead.”

“People were living in there. (The plane) just crashed into it.”

Emergency services said one of the helicopter blades fell into the hotel pool. Another propeller landed on the plaza in front of the building, according to emergency services official Caitlin Denning. Sirens sounded. Video clips posted on social media showed flames rising from the hotel’s roof. “I’m shaking. People lived in there. (The plane) just crashed into it.”according to a woman in one of the sequences.
