The victim of this morning’s fatal accident in Wasseiges is the mayor’s paternal aunt, Thomas Courtois. Who evokes it for us.
This Saturday, Suzanne Courtois-Latour, 82, lost her life following a accident which took place in Wasseiges, a town of which his nephew Thomas is mayor. “ I was informed that there were mobility problems following an accident that had occurred in my municipalityindicates, moved, Thomas Courtois. When I arrived on the scene, I was informed that the injured person was an elderly person and that his son was already there. She had to be airlifted
It was around 12:10 p.m. when the emergency services were notified that a driver had lost control of her vehicle while traveling between Branchon and Wasseiges. The car rocked on its side and the emergency services had to get the motorist out of his cabin. The driver was Suzanne Courtois-Latour. She had to be airlifted. “We can never determine what happened. She may have felt unwell. She had a cardiac arrest when she arrived at the hospital.” The family is particularly united, even more to face this terrible tragedy. “It is a character who leaves us. It’s difficult.”
Very active and very popular
And the family will not be the only ones saddened to learn of this tragic disappearance. Suzanne Courtois-Latour was indeed very well known in Wasseiges, where she was a teacher and director of the Meeffe school for thirty years. She finished her career in 1992, but she never really stopped caring for children, her own, but also those of others. She was very active in her community. She helped children, especially those in difficulty. “ She has always defended people in distress. She helped with homework for children who had difficulties. She was going to fetch the widows to go to mass.“
“Tante Suzanne”, as some fondly called her, helped many people. She was very generous. “It is a great loss for the community. I don’t speak as a nephew, but as a mayor. Today I cry. I already receive a lot of testimonials. It is a personality that marked the town. She had character, but she was goodness incarnate.“

Suzanne Courtois-Latour wanted to help people and mainly people who were experiencing problems. “ She had three children and nine grandchildren. She took care of it until the last day. It was the good mother. She had her heart on her sleeve. She will be greatly missed.“
The mayor will speak at the funeral of this great lady. He will be very moved to pay him a tribute. “ Tomorrow, it will be two years since my dad left us, it was just before the Covid.
