According to history, in the first half of the 10th century, the Byzantine emperor Constantine Porphyrogenitus wanted to transfer the Image to Constantinople, so he bought it from the ruler of Edessa. Nowadays, such an image can be seen in any Orthodox church. It was also painted or embroidered on the banners of the Russian army and religious banners – gonfalons. Outside the church, housewives cooked bread, mushroom pies, and various dishes with nuts were obligatory on the table that day, and then they treated everyone who wanted them – relatives, guests, neighbors. But the dishes of the previous Spas – Honey and Apple – also remained on the table. Buns and pies with honey and apples continued to be baked. Signs for Nut Spas If you have collected a rich harvest of nuts this year, expect a rich harvest of wheat next year. If you have collected nuts and they are wormy, misfortune will happen. They even used nuts to tell fortunes: if the fruit is ripe and tasty – to joy and success, if it is green – you will learn news, if it is rotten – trouble will overtake you, and an empty nut usually promises problems. If it is raining with lightning – there will be a warm autumn. The cranes fly south – you need to expect frost on the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. If you are afraid of damage and the evil eye – eat one nut yourself and give the other to the first person you meet. Recipes for dishes for Nut Spas Grain bread with walnuts For cooking you need: Grain flour – 1 kg Salt – to taste Walnuts – 75 g Olive oil – 2 tbsp Dry yeast – 7 g Water – 600 ml Preparation 1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. While it is heating, chop the nuts. 2. Combine flour, salt, yeast, nuts and mix thoroughly. 3. Without stopping stirring, pour in olive oil and warm water. Stir until the dough has the consistency of liquid sour cream. 4. Place the dough in an oiled container, cover and leave in a warm place for 1 hour. 5. When the dough has increased in volume, stir again and add a little flour if the dough seems liquid. 6. Place the dough in an oiled baking dish, cover and leave for 1 hour. 7. Bake the bread in the oven for 10 minutes. 8. Without removing the bread from the oven, reduce the oven temperature from 220 to 200 degrees and bake for another 30 minutes. Dense pie with nuts and raisins For the pie you will need: Wheat flour – 150 g Egg – 2 pcs. Sugar – 200 g Walnuts – 250 g Raisins – to taste Vanillin – to taste Soda – 1 tsp Preparation 1. Preheat the oven. While it is heating, beat the eggs. Add sugar and continue beating until it dissolves. 2. Add vanillin. Quench the soda with lemon juice, citric acid, hot water or vinegar (at your discretion). Add the slaked soda to the mixture. 3. Add flour, mix. Pour in nuts and raisins (pre-rinse and dry them). Mix everything quickly. 4. Put the dough in the pan and bake for about 30 minutes. 7. Bake the bread in the oven for 10 minutes.
8. Without removing the bread from the oven, reduce the oven temperature from 220 to 200 degrees and bake for another 30 minutes.

For the pie you will need:
