Audio Technica ATH-SQ1TW headphones review: nice sound and original design

The ATH-SQ1TW are available in black, white, blue, caramel, blue and burgundy, or in pink and brown. Audio Technica has particularly worked on the aesthetic aspect of its product. Made of a fairly decent quality plastic, the headphones – like their case – adopt a distinctive cubic shape. But the ear cups’ matte top, where the touchpad sits, is prone to fingerprints, while the glossy bottom can tend to get dirty easily.

For its part, the case, entirely matte, also retains fingerprints. If the headphones are light (5.2 g) and quite small (1.5 x 1.8 x 2.5 cm), the same cannot be said for the latter. With 5 cm in length by 5 cm in width for 3 cm in height and a weight of 34.2 g, the case will clearly not be forgotten in your pocket. On the other hand, the case and its hinge seem solid and we did not notice any play.

Supplied with four pairs of silicone tips and a USB cable, the ATH-SQ1TW offer a satisfactory level of comfort, but far from models with a semi-in-ear design. They hold very well in place when you choose the right tips, the four sizes offered allowing them to suit a lot of morphologies.

Nevertheless, they will not be forgotten. Note that this model has no IP certification, so beware of rain or too regular and intensive sports training. Finally, you will notice that if the ear cups have support fins, these play a mainly aesthetic role. As the brand specifies, they can however be used to improve the hold in the ears if necessary.
