Marco Schubert returns to Audi after three years as the new member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing. The Audi Supervisory Board made this decision on August 30, 2024. Schubert succeeds Hildegard Wortmann, who will leave the Audi Board of Management on August 31, after five years, of her own free will and by mutual agreement. At the same time, Wortmann will step down from his position on the extended Volkswagen Group Executive Committee.
“Hildegard Wortmann played a major role and had a decisive influence on the development of the sales operations of the Audi brand and the Volkswagen Group. In her role within the Group, she established a solid, multi-brand foundation for global sales. At Audi, she and her team achieved record sales in times of major crises. On behalf of the Supervisory Board of AUDI AG, I would like to thank her for her unwavering commitment and caring approach to business,” said Manfred Döss, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Audi. “With his international experience, Marco Schubert has exactly the skills that Audi needs to meet the complex challenges of global markets,” he added.
Jörg Schlagbauer, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Chairman of the General Works Council of AUDI AG: “Hildegard Wortmann was the first woman to sit on the Board of Management of Audi and has provided many sustainable and forward-looking impulses in sales operations. We would like to thank her for her excellent collaboration and wish her every success in her professional and personal future. We welcome Marco Schubert to AUDI AG in his new role as Board Member for Sales and Marketing. We look forward to working with him in an open and constructive manner on the further modernization of sales operations.”
Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG: “Hildegard Wortmann has successfully led the sales operations of the Audi brand in volatile times and under difficult circumstances, and has set the course for the largest product offensive in the history of AUDI AG, which recently began with the Audi Q6 e-tron. On behalf of the entire Board of Management, I would like to express my sincere thanks for this outstanding achievement. I am delighted that in Marco Schubert we are gaining a proven sales and marketing expert with extensive experience across the Group’s brands and Audi’s sales regions.”
Marco Schubert has over 30 years of professional experience in the automotive industry, including 20 years at Audi. Since 2021, he has been Vice President of the European Region at Porsche. Previously, he was President of Audi’s Sales Division in China for three years. At Skoda Auto, he was responsible for sales for Asia and abroad until 2018. The Magdeburg native was also Managing Director of Audi Sweden from 2014 to 2017. Previously, he headed the Northern Europe region for Audi AG.
Marco Schubert says about his start at Audi: “Audi is a brand with a great tradition and a strong team. Returning to the four rings is like coming home for me. Audi’s team spirit and pioneering vision have had a major influence on me and my career. In the future, we will continue to need these qualities, because we have big plans: Audi is launching the largest product offensive in its history. I am looking forward to shaping this project in our markets and to making people around the world enthusiastic about Audi again and again.”
For her part, Hildegard Wortmann thanks her team: “Ultimately, it is always the people who make the difference. In cooperation with my team at Audi, in the Group’s sales operations and in the markets, in recent years, which have been marked by great changes and disruptions, I have been able to shape, change and successfully implement a lot. I would like to thank everyone who supported me on this path and trusted me. This is not to be taken for granted, and it means a lot to me. I would especially like to thank our partners, the dealers around the world.”
Hildegard Wortmann has been working in leading global companies for 34 years now and in the automotive industry for 26 years. In July 2019, the native of Münster, Germany, became a member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG responsible for Sales and Marketing, leaving the BMW Group to join Audi. Then, in February 2022, she became a member of the newly expanded Executive Board of the Volkswagen Group, finally taking charge of global sales in September of the same year.
