The first skeletonized Jumbo was launched in 1992. This Model 14811, which is distinguished by a dial decorated with an oak motif, was sold at auction in favor of the Audemars Piguet Foundation. Until the year 2000, many other skeletonized “Jumbo” models equipped with the extra-thin Caliber 2120 were created in small series.

While some are adorned with crimped hands (e.g. 14789, 14793 and 14814), others feature ultra-stylish designs, such as Models 14884 and 12518 (a unique creation celebrating the brand’s 125th anniversary) representing a naval anchor once morest the backdrop of rough seas surrounded by ropes.

Skeletonization made its comeback in the “Jumbo” collection in 2010 with the Model 15305, this time equipped with the automatic caliber 3129, measuring 4.31 mm thick. The galvanic treatment of the movement contrasts elegantly with the stainless steel case.

Two years later, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Royal Oak, the manufacture revealed a new limited edition slate gray skeleton in 950 platinum, powered by the new Caliber 5122. A version in 18-carat pink gold was also launched in 2014 .

The Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin Skeleton model reappears in 2022 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the collection. For the occasion, the manufacture launched two models in steel or 18-carat pink gold, equipped with a new skeletonized automatic movement, Caliber 7124. The new yellow gold model presented this year follows in the footsteps of these two references.
