A concert is organized by the Order of Malta on December 11 with Les Petits Baigneurs. The profits will be donated to the Saint-Jacques Roquetaillade center.
A solidarity Christmas concert will take place in the heart of the Sainte-Marie d’Auch cathedral on December 11th. “After the interruption of the Covid, we are resuming our traditional event”, indicates Patricia de la Barrière, delegate of the Order of Malta of the Gers. Every year, the association hosts a musical training and donates the profits from the evening to the Saint-Jacques center in Roquetaillade, which treats children with disabilities and severe burns. “We thus participate in the purchase of specific equipment, such as waterbeds for example, or for activities, such as creativity workshops”, specifies the volunteer.
This year, Les Petits Baigneurs, eight New Orleans jazz musicians, will be hosted in Auch. The training aims to bring back the memory of the original Dixieland to the taste of the day. Gospel, blues, ballads, ragtime or even Creole songs follow one another in the always festive repertoire. The public will thus be able to discover or rediscover “Careless Love” by Handy Spencer, “Bye bye black bird” by Ray Anderson or even “Basin street blues” by Spencer Williams.
Open to all, with the passing of the hat, the concert aims to be a convivial moment as the end of year celebrations approach. “It also allows the center of Roquetaille to be known, adds Patricia de la Barrière. We must continue to help them”.
