Jeddah: A tourism agreement was signed between Saudi Arabia and China. The aim is to attract 3 million Chinese tourists to Saudi Arabia annually by 2030. The new agreement is part of the reforms being implemented in the tourism sector in the country.
The main objective of the agreement is to attract Chinese tourists to the country. The agreement was signed by Saudi Ambassador to China Abdurrahman bin Ahmad Al Harbi and Chinese Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Du Jiang on behalf of the Saudi Ministry of Tourism. This will pave the way for Chinese citizens to come to Saudi Arabia on a tourist visa. China has been included as one of the 57 countries eligible for e-visa.
Transit visas that allow Chinese citizens to land in Saudi Arabia and stay for up to 96 hours while on their way to another country will also be allowed from now on. Chinese has also been added to the list of languages on the ‘Spirit of Saudi Arabia’ digital platform to help tourists. Electronic payment systems suitable for Chinese tourists will also be prepared in the country. The tourism minister said that by 2030, 3 million Chinese tourists will visit Saudi Arabia every year. Saudi Arabia is implementing many projects to attract tourists from different countries to Saudi Arabia.
