The Klimt-Schiff, which had been in operation since 2007 in its previous form, became the Klimt-Mahler-Schiff following the artist duo Anne Schinko and Ruli had created a new exterior design. The ceremonial unveiling unveiled the contoured face of Gustav Klimt – and that to the sounds of Gustav Mahler’s 3rd symphony, which was written on Lake Attersee, more precisely at the foot of the Höllengebirge in Steinbach.

The mayor of Steinbach, Nicole Eder, took on the role of godmother. But “baptized” is not correct: a ship should only be named once, superstition says anything else will bring bad luck.
