More than 450,000 people followed a medical treatment in one of the 88 French thermal spas during the year 2023.

Attendance at thermal cures in France increased by 5.86% in 2023 compared to 2022, but remains very far from its level before the health crisis in 2019, according to figures from the National Council thermal establishments (Cneth), which Franceinfo reveals on Thursday January 25.

According to these figures, 457,700 people followed a medical treatment in one of the 88 French spas during the year 2023, a figure up 5.86% compared to the previous year. “This attendance nevertheless remains down 21% compared to 2019 (580,000 spa guests), the reference year”however, explains the National Council of Thermal Establishments.

On average, in 2023, spa guests stayed eighteen days in thermal spas. The sector directly employs 11,500 people.
