At the ‘2nd Global Corona 19 Summit’, which started around 10 pm (Korean time) on the same day, President Yoon delivered a video speech in the following order, following the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

President Yoon said, “Korea has been participating in the efforts of the international community to quickly end Corona and create a sustainable global health response system. I will fulfill my responsibilities.”

President Yoon also revealed detailed plans. “First, we will contribute an additional $300 million in financial resources to ACT-A (an initiative launched for the development and equitable access to COVID-19 basic health technology),” President Yoon said.

“We will provide sufficient supply and support for safe and rapid vaccination to countries that urgently need the vaccine,” he said. In addition, he said, “We will actively support the efforts of developing countries to become self-sufficient in vaccines by establishing a global bio manpower nurturing hub for the World Health Organization.” President Yoon said, “We will actively participate in the Global Health and Security Initiative (GHSA) and work together to strengthen the cooperation system between countries.”

In addition, he said, “Korea supports the creation of the Financial Intermediation Fund (FIF),” he said.

President Yoon said, “Health crises that threaten humanity as a whole, such as Corona, cannot be resolved with the participation of only one country or a few countries. he emphasized. “We will also fulfill our role as responsible members of the international community, and we will not forget that this is the way for human prosperity,” he said.

In addition, he added, “I hope that good measures will be drawn up to respond to the coronavirus and strengthen the health and security system through the global COVID-19 summit.”

After President Yoon’s speech, US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said, “This is the first remarks made by President Seok-Yeol Yoon on the international stage since taking office, and it shows the position of South Korea.”
