A suspect was arrested Thursday evening following an attempted murder perpetrated on the public highway in Nivelles, we learned on Friday from the Walloon Brabant public prosecutor’s office.
A Nivellois born in 2007 was walking on Thursday evening around 10 p.m. along rue de Namur, in Nivelles, when he was violently attacked. Another Nivellois born in 1978, for an as yet undetermined reason, stabbed him twice in the back.
The victim took refuge in the airlock of a bank located near the scene of the attack. She was then taken care of by the emergency services who transported her to hospital. At the time of his admission to the emergency department, the young man’s life seemed in danger. But it ultimately turned out that no vital organs were affected.
The suspect was apprehended shortly following the incident and immediately deprived of his liberty. He must be heard on Friday by an investigating judge who has been seized of the case. The Walloon Brabant public prosecutor’s office requested the issuance of an arrest warrant once morest the suspect for attempted murder.
