Attempted murder in Styria: 21-year-old stabbed grandparents

A 21-year-old man from the Graz area apparently tried to stab his 63-year-old grandmother with a kitchen knife on Saturday evening. When the grandfather (also 63 years old) intervened, he too was injured.

As the Styrian police reports, officers from the Frohnleiten Police Inspectorate drove to the couple on Saturday around 8:30 p.m. Both had cut injuries. They said their 21-year-old grandson tried to hurt the 63-year-old with a kitchen knife. Her husband may have tried to ward off the attack and suffered cut injuries to his hand as a result. The woman was injured by knife cuts in the face. Both were taken to the LKH Bruck.

The 21-year-old fled following the crime. A search for the man that same evening was unsuccessful.

grandson confesses

However, the police managed to track down the 21-year-old the next morning. He allowed himself to be arrested without resistance. According to the police, the man made a full confession during his interrogation. He stated that he intended to kill his grandparents. When the grandfather put up a fight, however, he let go of the two.

A psychological report should now clarify whether the 21-year-old was sane at the time of the crime. He was taken to the Graz-Jakomini prison. The murder weapon was secured. A gun ban was issued once morest the man.
