2023-12-25 12:32:00

We came within millimeters of the tragedy this weekend in the Carré district of Liège. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the police intervened in the streets of the festive district to intercept a man, born in 1978, who was fleeing following a fight. He had just been guilty of attempted murder.

Shortly before 8 a.m., in an establishment in Le Carré, a fight broke out and the forty-year-old then took out a knife… which he stuck in his opponent’s throat before fleeing. It was on surveillance cameras that the police were able to see the man leaving the establishment, a knife in his hand; knife that he was wiping. In the establishment, the victim, born in 2004, was quickly taken care of by those present who were able to maintain pressure on his throat before help arrived. She suffered from a deep cut, the knife would have passed very close to the carotid artery. His life was not in danger when he arrived at the hospital.

The perpetrator of this attack was intercepted and referred to the Liège public prosecutor’s office. He was already known for acts of aggression, his case was put under investigation with a request for an arrest warrant.
