Attempted murder by firearm in the middle of the street in Montreal North

A 22-year-old man was shot in the middle of the street on Wednesday followingnoon, directly in front of a children’s park, in the Montreal North sector.

The crime was committed shortly before 2 p.m., on Joseph-Dufresne Street, opposite Lacordaire Park.

“It’s disgusting. We don’t have to live with that. It’s become that I no longer feel safe, no matter where I go, “said a neighbor met at the scene of the crime.

According to our information, the victim received at least one projectile from a firearm in the stomach when he was near his vehicle.

The man was rushed to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was conscious during the ambulance ride. We wouldn’t fear for his life.

The author of the attempted murder fled before the arrival of the police and had not yet been arrested at the end of the followingnoon.

The victim in this new episode of armed violence is known to police circles, according to our information.

Strangely, none of the neighbors met on the spot heard any detonations. The police do not exclude that the suspect might have used a firearm equipped with a silencer to accomplish his dirty work.

The attempted murder took place in front of a park which is usually very busy at this time of day and only a few blocks from an elementary school.
