The person accused of attacking the presidential candidate, Luisa González, confessed this Friday in a hearing that he tried to attack her with three grenades while the Ecuadorian Police reported that they found another armed subject.

The perpetrator of the attack, surnamed Mancilla, indicated that he was carrying a backpack with three grenades to a political rally to attack the life of the candidate for the Citizen Revolution.

“When the two police officers found me, I told them that the three grenades were for the attack on Miss Luisa,” said the defendant, who pointed out that thanks to his alert, the Police were able to identify another subject with a machine gun and various ammunition, who It had the same purpose.

At the same time, Mancilla announced that he had been threatened to carry out the attack that was going to be carried out on August 30.

“They had threatened my wife and my daughter with a firearm, to tell me that if I did not cooperate with the backpack and leave it where I had to leave it, they were going to kill my daughter and my wife,” he said.

For her part, González previously reported that she had been alerted regarding the attack, which is why she accepted the protection of the Armed Forces proposed by the Ecuadorian president, Guillermo Lasso.

“I don’t usually wear a bulletproof vest. And we talked with my team. They said, you have to put on the bulletproof vest. I told them, but if it’s a bomb, I’ll fly with a full vest,” said the candidate at the beginning of this month.
