Attacked police: Man died after taser used in South Tyrol

The man, who is not from South Tyrol, had probably consumed drugs and alcohol beforehand, as the news portal stol.it reported. The Carabinieri of Sterzing were alerted by the man in the middle of the night because he had heard people outside his room. Paramedics and Carabinieri immediately set out and tried to get into his apartment. The resident is said to have appeared very confused and refused to open the front door to the emergency services.

Resuscitation attempts unsuccessful

The man might not calm down and threw himself out of the window, from a height of regarding two and a half meters. Despite the fall, he got up and attacked the Carabinieri, whereupon the officers used their taser. Although he was hit, the man continued to resist. After a few minutes, he said he felt unwell. The emergency doctor, who was already on the scene, immediately started several resuscitation attempts – but they were unsuccessful. After regarding an hour, the man died of cardiac arrest.

During the search of the apartment, the Carabinieri found several doses of drugs, presumably cocaine, and various alcoholic beverages, which were probably the cause of the man’s severe state of agitation and confusion.
