As a former president and Republican presidential candidate, Trump is primarily protected by the Secret Service.

During most of Trump’s campaign, local police assisted the Secret Service. They are also sometimes assisted by agents from other agencies under the Department of Homeland Security, such as the Transportation Security Administration.

This is not an easy task. Many of Trump’s rallies draw thousands of spectators, are often held outdoors and last for hours.

Before the event, agents scan the venue for bombs or other threats, and Trump always arrives in a motorcade.

Law enforcement officials usually set up barriers as a circle and all attendees are passed through metal detectors to enter the venue. Armed security agents search all participants’ bags and even wallets. Many rally participants are also subjected to extensive searches.

However, according to initial media reports, the attack on Trump on Saturday seemed to indicate that the gunman was outside the security fence.

The Independent According to an emergency room doctor, he described how he tried to save a person who was shot at the rally.

The doctor, whose T-shirt was stained with blood, told CBS News: ‘I heard gunshots. I thought they were the first firecrackers before the ceremony.’

“Someone was shouting ‘He’s got a bullet, he’s got a bullet,’ so I ran there,” he added. The man had been shot in the head and according to the doctor they might see ‘parts of his brain’.

‘The man was stuck between the benches and there was a bullet in his head,’ explained the doctor.

He explained how he administered CPR while giving first aid to the man.

“I did it alone,” he told CBS News. Helicopters were coming to take them away.’

A local resident, who was present at the rally, said on condition of anonymity that he saw what appeared to be two Secret Service agents sitting on a nearby rooftop before the rally. Agents were already scanning the area, he said.

He added: ‘They kept looking to the left of the event venue, before Trump came on stage. They were very focused on that area.’

According to Boston Globe reporter James Pindell, he first saw Secret Service agents aiming rifles at a location away from the crowd, but six minutes into Trump’s speech, a ‘loud noise’ was heard.

‘When I looked up, the same agents were firing in the same direction as their guns. I knew they were firing because there was smoke coming from their guns.’

“I might see the stage very clearly but at the time I was typing what Trump was saying,” he said. When I looked back at the podium, agents had Trump on the ground and were guarding him. After that, other agents also reached the stage.

He added that people were in complete ‘shock’ and were looking for a safe place to escape.

The Secret Service said shortly following the incident that it had opened an investigation and had notified Democratic President Joe Biden, but the agency did not immediately respond to additional requests from Reuters for comment on its protocol. .

The Pennsylvania State Police, when asked regarding the matter, asked to be contacted by the Secret Service, which did not immediately respond.

Moments following Donald Trump was wounded, the former president was surrounded by Secret Service agents as a human shield, while heavily armed agents in body armor and toting rifles also came on stage and were seen scanning the area.

According to the Trump campaign, he was transported by agents in a black SUV to a local hospital, where he was discharged following a medical examination.
