Attack on Indian Army in Occupied Kashmir’s Baramulla, one civilian killed and 4 soldiers injured – World

Unidentified assailants attacked an Indian Army vehicle near Nagin area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of Occupied Kashmir, injuring at least four soldiers and killing a civilian.

According to Indian media, police officials said that the vehicle of 18 Rashtriya Rifles was targeted while coming from Butapathar. In this attack, a porter traveling with the soldiers was seriously injured and later died.’

Meanwhile, the security forces immediately responded to the attack and started a search operation to find the attackers.

The Baramulla Police said in a statement that the exchange of fire between alleged militants and security forces has been confirmed.

The police said, ‘There was an exchange of fire between security forces and militants in Butapathar sector of Baramulla district near Nagan post. More information will be shared after verification of facts.’

The attack took place hours after a laborer was found mysteriously injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Pritam Singh, a laborer hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was injured in Pulwama’s Tral area, though police did not confirm whether the incident was militancy-related.

The attack comes three days after six construction workers and a doctor were killed in a militant attack on the Z Mora tunnel workers’ housing camp. The workers were part of a major infrastructure project in the region.

Following the attack, security forces conducted raids in several districts to eliminate a newly formed militant group, Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya-Muslim. Authorities say the group was linked to recent violence.
