The emotion is still as strong within the Kurdish community in Paris. Two days following the bloody massacre which left three victims in the tenth arrondissement of the capital, rue d’Enghien, the Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDKF) calls for a new mobilization this Monday in Paris, at the scene of the tragedy, at noon. It is then expected that the procession will go to 147, rue Lafayette. This is where, on the night of January 9 to 10, 2013, three Kurdish activists had been assassinatedfor a case that has never been resolved and is still present in the diaspora.
Shortly following the killings on Friday in Paris, hundreds of people gathered in the 10th arrondissement to make their voices heard. Representatives of the Kurdish community had called for a new tribute on Saturday on the Place de la République. At the end of the procession, violent outbursts had broken out on the sidelines of the rally, on the boulevard du Temple.
The procedure is following its course. The custody of William M., the main suspect, resumed on Sunday. She had been interrupted on Saturday for medical reasons, at the request of a doctor. Faced with the investigators, William M. had provided a lot of information on his intentions, invoking a racist motive and ensuring in particular that he wanted to commit his crimes in Saint-Denis, before turning back to turn to the 10th arrondissement. He says he has developed a “pathological” hatred towards foreigners, following being the victim of a burglary in 2016. He should be presented on Monday to an investigating judge.
