ATS – exercise – volunteer fire brigade playing field

This Friday, February 23rd, 2024, the respiratory protection troop of the FF-Spielfeld started its training cycle planned for the first half of 2024. The focus of this series of exercises is to intensively incorporate operational tactics in order to tactically take our respiratory protection sector to the next level. This serves our own safety in the event of a serious operation and at the same time is intended to increase our effectiveness in such a case. In the first session on February 23rd. Our additional equipment was rethought from the ground up. Together we looked at equipment for penetrating fire objects that might be locked and practiced it right away. This tool was then put together in a so-called reconnaissance bag, which will now accompany our ATS squads on their missions. Basic tactical skills were also practiced. An additional, practical focus was placed on rescuing comrades. For example, this involves being able to quickly connect the mask of a comrade in distress to his own ATS device in order to be able to supply him with breathing air in an exceptional situation. The necessary maneuvers are not easy, especially in a stressful situation, and should therefore be trained as often as possible. Afterwards, we practiced how to free a fully equipped, perhaps unconscious respiratory protection wearer from their equipment, which weighs up to 25 kg, as quickly as possible in order to be able to provide first aid effectively. This type of training prepares us for worst case scenarios that will hopefully never occur in our fire department!
