ATP Miami: Carlos Alcaraz crushes Facundo Bagnis (6-0, 6-2) for his second round entry

The tournaments change, but not the results for Carlos Alcaraz. Five days following winning his third Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells, the world number 1 made short work of Argentinian Facundo Bagnis, 100th in the ATP, for his debut in Miami in the second round. The prodigy from Murcia was quick to win (6-0, 6-2) in 1h05 of play. In his next match, he will challenge Maxime Cressy or Dusan Lajovic.

To see Carlos Alcaraz tremble, we will have to wait. The young Spaniard had a very quiet debut on Friday in Miami, symbolized by two edifying statistics in the first set: he won the first 11 points of the match and all those of the set disputed on his service (12/ 13). Worse for Facundo Bagnis: the Argentinian had to wait for the 9th game of the game to unlock his counter on the scoreboard (6-0, 2-1).

Alcaraz like a tornado

Certainly, Alcaraz was unbroken in the next game (6-0, 2-2), but it was the only incident of this one-sided match in his favor. It must be said that his opponent did not really complicate his task with a catastrophic statistical record that says a lot regarding his “performance of the day”: 30 unforced errors for… 4 tiny winning shots. The outgoing champion might not therefore have dreamed of a better start in the defense of his title.
