Stan Wawrinka (ATP 284) has earned his place in the main draw of the ATP 250 in Metz. The Vaudois beat the Hungarian Zsombor Piros (ATP 160) 6-7 6-2 6-0 in the second and final round of qualifying.
Convincing the day before once morest the No. 1 seed Laslo Djere (ATP 67), Stan Wawrinka suffered on Monday. Quickly led 4/0 in a tie-break that he badly negotiated, he was however able to raise his level of play. The former world No. 3 has thus won the last 11 games of the match.
This passage through the qualifications box will necessarily be beneficial for Stan Wawrinka. It is only the second time since his return to competition at the end of March that he has managed to chain 2 consecutive victories, following Rome in May. He will aim for a 3rd rank success in the 1st round of the final table.
