Novak Djokovic successfully played his first game at the ATP Finals in Turin. The 36-year-old Serb defeated Holger Rune (DEN/ATP 10) 7:6 (7:4), 6:7 (1:7), 6:3.
The Danish tournament debutant demanded everything from the world number 1 for over 3 hours. In the decisive set, Djokovic initially gave up a break lead. But Rune mightn’t find an answer to another service breakthrough.
Sinner flawless
At the start of the tournament in the “green group”, Jannik Sinner (ATP 4) won once morest Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP 6). The local hero beat the Greek 6:4, 6:4.
In the first set, one break was enough for the 22-year-old to make it 3-2 to win the set. In the second round, the Italian managed to make it 1-0.
Alcaraz once morest Zverev
On Monday, the “red group” intervenes: After the Russian duel between Daniil Medvedev (ATP 3) and Andrei Rublew (ATP 5), Alexander Zverev (GER/ATP 8) competes once morest Carlos Alcaraz (ESP/ATP 2).
