Will Atos escape Thales’ appetite ? Speculation resumes around the future of its cybersecurity activities. Airbus might seriously thwart the ambitions of the specialist in aerospace and defense electronics. According to several sources, the aircraft manufacturer is in preliminary discussions with Atos to take a minority stake in the capital of Evidian, the branch that will host its digital and cyber activity. A project that goes straight of the restructuring plan of the IT group , contrary to Thales’s intentions. For Atos, the latter would mean abandoning 100% of the only high-growth cyber activities.
“There are exploratory discussions with potential future Evidian minority shareholders. Thales is not part of this scheme at this stage, ”supports a source familiar with the matter. When questioned, Thales maintains its position: the group is “potentially interested in any cybersecurity asset that would be available for sale”, but does not want to diversify and “has no ongoing discussions with Atos”.
