Spanish giants Atletico Madrid to assess the Indian squad as they prepare for this year’s AFC U-17 Asian Cup. The Asian Cup is also a qualifying tournament for the U-17 World Cup to be held in Peru this year. Therefore, All India Football Federation president Kalyan Choubey has confirmed that the team under Bibiano Fernandes will be sent to Spanish club Atletico Madrid for five weeks of training. Chaubey said this in an interview granted to Times of India. He also clarified that the coaching staff of Atletico Madrid will analyze every player in the Indian team apart from training. Kalyan Chowbey also stated that the team going to Spine will play six matches there ahead of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup to be held in Thailand in June. He thinks the association with Spanish football will help India. He added that Atletico Madrid will help the players improve their skills and tactical awareness beyond just playing warm-up matches there. The team will then fly to Germany for final training. Then it will be rotated to Thailand for the tournament. Also, he said, efforts will be made to bring coaches from Spain, where women’s football has deep roots, to India.

The Indian youth team has been placed in the group of death in the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup. India’s group features some of the best youth teams in Asia. Japan, Vietnam and Uzbekistan will be lined up in Group D of the Asian Cup which includes India. Japan has won the tournament three times. Uzbekistan once.
Strong Vietnam, on the other hand, comes to the tournament with the image of a coup.
