Crossed near the bookstore, Laure and her daughter, Capucine, 10 years old, leafing through a book. It’s the first time they come to the Atlantide festival, words of the world, and start by discovering the large bookstore and the signing area.

“We came to have fun, because we like to read. Such an event nurtures a love of reading. Capucine is very motivated”smiles Laure.

The two Nantes women spotted Sophie Rigal-Goulard, who spoke on Friday February 16, in a debate between authors of children’s literature with Kochka and Anne Cohen-Beucher, translator.

“She’s one of my favorite authors and I wanted to meet her. We even brought all her books for her to sign for us. And we will follow the debate,” rejoices Capucine. “ I wanted to listen to the Icelandic author Audur Ava Olafsdottir. I have read most of his books since candid rose and I like his latest novel Eden », completes Laure.

She devotes her entire weekend to it

After attending the Utopiales, a major festival dedicated to science fiction last November, Christelle, 43, who has lived in Nantes for five years, planned to devote her entire weekend to Atlantis, where she had not yet been.

“I love reading and I find that going to a festival which gives voice to authors from all over the world, on various social themes, can make me want to read them. Listening to them can motivate people to buy books rather than watch TV,” thinks the young woman. She just has one disappointment: “I wanted to see Negar Djavadi, but the Iranian author was prevented by the strike at the SNCF. »

A regular at the literature festival, Pierre, 66, has put together a program for the three days, even if he also regrets the absence of a dozen authors. “I started by listening to Pascal Blanchard, Abdourahman Waberi and Alain Mabanckou discussing another history of black France. Ah, Blanchard, what talent! he appreciates. I come for the pleasure of words and language, of meeting other world literatures . »

Sunday February 18, at the Lieu unique, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., free. Complete program on www.atlantide-festival.org
