ATLANTA (AP) — Thiago Almada scored a goal and added an assist. Brad Guzan kept a clean sheet for the fourth time this season to lead Atlanta United to a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Union.
United (8-5-8) took the lead from the seventh minute following Almada’s goal that made the score 1-0 and was never in jeopardy. The second goal of the game was the work of Brooks Lennon in the 79th minute.
The Union (10-6-4) outshot Atlanta 15-14, but United had seven shots on target to Philadelphia’s only one.
Guzan saved the only shot he faced for United. Joe Bendik had seven saves for the Union.
These teams will return to the pitch on Saturday, with United visiting Montreal while the Union will visit LA Galaxy.
