Atlanta: Ivashka joins the last four

The Americans will not be faultless in the quarterfinals in Atlanta. Tommy Paul, seeded number 5, failed to reach the last four during his duel with Ilya Ivashka. Not letting his opponent convert the three break points he was able to obtain in the first set, the Belarusian took his opponent’s serve twice before concluding the first set with a shutout. Undecided, the second round turned on a single point. Indeed, in the sixth game, Tommy Paul managed to take the serve of his opponent on the only opportunity to do so that he knew how to obtain. In the process, at the first opportunity, the 36th player in the world restarted the match by equalizing at one set everywhere. Ilya Ivashka didn’t give up and barely replied the last set thrown. Taking the service of the American from the start, the 53rd in the world was able to lead three games to nothing. An advantage that has never been called into question and that the Belarusian even made use of with a second break in order to serve to win the match, leading five games to one. The second match point was good for Ilya Ivashka (6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in 2h01′), who will be the opponent of Alex de Minaur or Adrian Mannarino for a place in the final.
