Oct. 12 (Archyde.com) – Progress has been made towards starting the reduction in asset purchases by the US central bank, the Atlanta chairman said on Tuesday.
“I think some progress has been made, and the sooner we move forward on this topic the better,” Raphael Bostic said in an interview with the Financial Times.
He added that the job market was strong enough for the Federal Reserve to start scaling back its asset purchase program.
The Fed said last month that it plans to reduce its bond purchases “soon” in the markets, which have so far been held at $ 120 billion (€ 102 billion) per month. (Report Aakriti Bhalla and Ismail Shakil in Bangalore; French version Claude Chendjou, edited by Jean-Michel Bélot)
