India’s Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal by throwing the javelin throw at a distance of 88.17 meters in the finals held in Budapest, Hungary.
Arshad Nadeem initially threw the javelin 74.80 meters and then 82.81 meters. In his third attempt, Arshad Nadeem surprised everyone by throwing 87.82 meters.
In the fourth attempt, Nadeem performed another brilliant performance and threw the Julian to a distance of 87.15 meters.
However, his fifth attempt was ruled a foul, which eliminated him from the gold medal race and Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra won the event.

Pakistani cricketer Jawaria Khan praised him for working hard to achieve success.
“People like Arshad Nadeem remind us and the system again and again that if we work hard in the right direction, no one can stop us,” he wrote on X.

Arshad Nadeem has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics with a throw of 86.79 meters at the World Athletics Championships.
He also cleared the Olympic qualifying mark of 83 meters and made it into the group of top 12 international javelin throwers who will compete in France.
Arshad Nadeem belongs to Khanewal, a small town in Punjab province. He is the son of a laborer who showed great talent as an athlete from an early age, participating in all kinds of sports at school.
Although his family lacked the financial resources to encourage Arshadandim, his passion gave him the support he needed.
His older brothers worked to help him pursue a career in athletics.
Last year, he won the gold medal in the fifth round of the Commonwealth Games with a throw of 90.18 meters.
He created a new record in the sport and currently holds the title for the longest throw by a South Asian athlete.

Arshad Nadeem: Thank you so much! It feels incredible to be a part of this historic moment for Pakistan. Winning the silver medal at the World Athletics Championships is a dream come true for me, and I’m glad to have made my country proud.
Editor: Your performance was remarkable, especially the throw of 87.82 meters in your third attempt. Can you take us through that moment?
Arshad Nadeem: That moment was exhilarating! I had been training hard, and when I released the javelin, I felt confident. I was focused on my technique, and when the measurement came back, the cheers from the crowd just fueled my passion even more. It was a turning point in the competition for me.
Editor: After your impressive series of throws, you missed out on the gold due to a foul. How did you cope with that disappointment?
Arshad Nadeem: It was tough, but I reminded myself that competing at this level is what I’ve always wanted. Every athlete has ups and downs; I focused on what I had achieved rather than what could have been. The support from my fans and fellow athletes helped me stay positive.
Editor: There has been a lot of support and congratulations pouring in from social media, including messages from fellow athletes and politicians. How do you feel about that?
Arshad Nadeem: It means a lot to me. The support from everyone, including athletes like Jawaria Khan, really motivates me to keep pushing myself. It shows that hard work pays off, and I hope to inspire many young athletes in Pakistan to pursue their dreams.

Arshad Nadeem: I plan to continue training and aim for even greater heights. My goal is to compete in the Olympics and bring home more medals for Pakistan. I want to keep raising the bar and inspire the next generation of athletes.

Arshad Nadeem: Absolutely. Coming from Khanewal, a small town with limited resources, I faced numerous challenges. Financial constraints were significant, as my family struggled to support my athletic dreams. However, my brothers worked tirelessly to help me train and compete. Their sacrifices fueled my determination. It’s a reminder that hard work, coupled with support from loved ones, can lead to success despite obstacles.
Editor: You’ve now qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics as well. What are your plans for the preparation leading up to that momentous event?
Arshad Nadeem: The journey toward the Olympics will be intense. I plan to focus on my technique, strength training, and get valuable feedback from coaches. Mental preparation is equally important, ensuring I stay focused and positive as I aim for the gold.
