Stock prices on the Athens Stock Exchange opened with a downward trend on March 8, 2024.

The General Price Index on the Greek stock exchange at 11:00, stands at 1,423.67 points, marking a small drop of 0.12%. The value of the transactions amounts to 10.883 million euros. The large-cap index is down 0.22%, while the mid-cap index is down 0.14%.

Of the high capitalization shares, the largest increase was recorded by the shares of Jumbo (+1.44%), PPA (+0.79%) and Terna Energy (+0.76%). On the contrary, the biggest fall was registered by the shares of Alpha Bank (-1.72%), Eurobank (-1.37%), Viohalco (-1.20%) and Piraeus (-0.78%).

34 stocks move up, 32 down and 13 remain stable. The biggest increase was registered by the shares: Kloukinas – Lappas +4.59% and Leventeris(k) +3.85%, while the biggest decline was recorded by the shares: ELBE -6.54% and Vogiatzoglou Systems -2.61%.

In the foreign exchange market, the euro once morest the dollar is down 0.11% at $1.0939.

The euro is at 161.7250 yen, 0.8534 once morest the pound and 0.9587 once morest the Swiss franc. The dollar was marginally down 0.02% once morest the yen at 147.8890 yen. Sterling was up 0.05% once morest the dollar at $1.2815.

The sentiment was muted at the start of today’s trading on the European stock markets, with the strengthening of energy shares offset by investor caution ahead of the announcement of economic data for the Eurozone and the US.

According to newsit, the pan-European STOXX 600 index was unchanged at 10:16 Greek time, following closing at record highs yesterday. The index is headed for its seventh straight week of gains.

Shares in oil and gas companies rose 0.7 percent on higher crude prices as demand increased in the world’s top consumers, the U.S. and China. Investors are turning their attention to the upcoming release of revised fourth-quarter GDP data in the eurozone as well as US non-farm payrolls data for February.
