Athens Stock Exchange: 0.53% drop for the General Index – 2024-07-09 23:49:41

Stock prices closed down in today’s session (March 7, 2024) at the Athens Stock Exchange, under the weight of liquidations focusing on banking shares, while the General Price Index closed at 1,425.44 points, registering a drop of 0.53%. Intra-sessionally it recorded a lower price at 1,420.03 units (-0.91%).

Turnover jumped to 1.34 billion euros, of which 1.08 billion euros concern Piraeus packages that are transferred following the placement of 27% of the bank’s shares. The large-cap index fell by 0.70% on the Athens Stock Exchange, while the mid-cap index fell by 0.62%.

Of the high capitalization shares, the biggest increase was recorded by the shares of Titan (+3.11%), GEK TERNA (+2.84%), OPAP (+2.03%), Aegean Airlines (+1 .10%) and PPC (+0.85%).

On the contrary, the biggest fall was recorded by the shares of National Bank (-3.70%), Alpha Bank (-3.56%), Eurobank (-2.14%), PPA (-1.93%), Elvalhalcor (-1.90%) and Viohalco (-1.85%). The Piraeus share closed with losses of 1.54%, at 4.10 euros.

The largest volume of transactions was presented by Piraeus and Alpha Bank, trading 302,600,039 and 10,742,444 shares, respectively. The highest value of transactions was recorded by Piraeus with 1.21 billion euros and National with 23.44 million euros.

47 stocks moved up, 59 fell and 17 remained stable. The biggest increase was recorded by the shares: Leventeris (k) +9.64% and Q&R +9.41%. The biggest drop was registered by the shares: VIS -4.88% and Akritas -3.88%.
