Athar Al-Hakim: I retired from acting, programs and all forms of being in the spotlight

The artist, Athar Al-Hakim, confirmed to “The Seventh Day” that she has permanently retired from acting, after an artistic career that reached 35 years, during which she presented many prominent works at the level of drama and cinema, where she said: “I, thank God, retired from acting, programs, press interviews, and all forms of being under the spotlight.”

Athar Al-Hakim has been absent from participating in any artistic work during the past 11 years, specifically since its presentation of the series “The Tighten String” in 2009, which was co-starred with His Excellency Zayed, Kamal Abu Raya, Sameh Al-Saraiti, Ahmed Khalil, Maryam Fakhr El-Din, Khayriyah Ahmed, Rania Youssef, Sherif Helmy, Mohamed Kamel, Nadia Fahmy, Salwa Mohamed Ali, Abdel Aziz Makhyoun, Enas Al-Najjar, Ashraf Abdel Ghafour, Ahmed Siam, and others, written by Imad Nafeh and directed by Khaled Bahjat.

The last appearance of the artist, Athar Al-Hakim, in an artistic event, was during her attendance at the performance of the play “The Optimist” on the National Theater, the year before last. Tamer Al-Kashef, Zakaria Maarouf, Reda Tolba, Tarek Ragheb, Ahmed Samir Amer, singer Mostafa Sami and a group of young people from the National Theater.

Athar Al-Hakim was born on August 24, 1958, and obtained a BA in English from the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University. After graduation, she worked in the field of public relations, and worked in the artistic field since the mid-seventies, but she gained great fame since the eighties, and among her most famous films: “The Tiger and the Female, a Bird on the Road, Love on the Pyramid Plateau, a Hero of Paper.” After a while, she devoted more efforts to television drama, among her most important series: “Zizinia, Nights of Dreams, Fleeing from Love, Jellyfish, Freska.”
