[충청뉴스 최형순 기자] According to a survey by the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation (CEO Kim Chun-jin), the average cost of preparing a ancestral rite table for Chuseok this year was 303,002 won, a 4.9% decrease from last year.

By business type, traditional markets were at 263,536 won and large distribution companies were at 342,467 won, down 3.2% and 6.2% from last year, respectively. The total cost was found to be 23% (78,931 won) cheaper for traditional markets than for large distribution companies.
As of September 6, regarding three weeks before the Chuseok holiday, this survey was conducted at 16 traditional markets and 34 large retailers across the country on 28 Chuseok items.
Last year, the price of vegetables was high due to the continued heat wave and heavy rain in August due to Chuseok earlier than usual, and prices of new fruits were also high due to the decrease in large fruits due to early shipment, but this year, shipments of seasonal products decreased ahead of Chuseok at the end of September. As this is increasing, prices are more stable than last year.
In particular, the price of beef (brisket, beef), which accounts for a high amount of money, fell sharply this year compared to last year due to the price drop due to the increase in the number of Korean cattle raised.
On the other hand, due to the continued rise in raw material import prices, the prices of processed foods such as Yakgwa, Gangjeong, and crab meat are still on the rise, and the price of sea bass has also increased compared to last year due to a decrease in catch.
In order to stabilize the supply and demand of Chuseok holiday products, the government is expanding the supply of sacred products for those in their 20s to the largest scale ever, and linking KRW 67 billion worth of discount support (farm discount) for agricultural, fishery and livestock products with discount events in the distribution industry to expand the discount range up to 60%.
