“The goal of our event is always broader: to show that the world of technology is open to different talents and career aspirations. First of all, it is a live meeting, an opportunity to feel what the IT/Tech community is, to measure yourself, and maybe even to find your place in this community” – says Julija Rimšelė, organizer of the fair, founder of “Vilnius Coding School”.
The Tech fair, which attracts the attention of a large number of participants and visitors, will maintain the main parts of the event that have become traditional – the conference part, where reports from company representatives will be read, discussions will take place, as well as the area of company stands and workshop spaces for communication and live acquaintance, about which more information is already available. quickly The best-known companies in the IT sector, which have participated in the event many times, as well as lesser-heard but important companies in the market, are invited to present themselves at the fair.
The sub-theme of this year’s fair is “Cyber security. Challenges and perspectives”. The relevance of cyber security is constantly growing in the context of both business and private life. The number of products created in the market related to ensuring cyber security, the amount of investment funds allocated is constantly growing, and at the same time, the need for professionals in this field.
The partners of the Tech fair, the Association of Cybersecurity Experts, will organize a discussion on this topic in the conference part of the event. “The growing number of cyber attacks poses a threat to both personal and organizational security, so it is necessary to raise awareness not only among specialists and experts, but also in society. Directives currently in force, such as NIS2 (Network and Information Systems Directive), strengthen security requirements and create a culture of a single cyber security standard.
Now is the best time to talk about this topic, because the new regulations require fast action and preparation to implement the requirements. The better we understand cyber threats, their risks and their management, the safer we will be in the future,” says Renata Karpaviče, head of KSEA.
This year, Vilnius was chosen as the most suitable city in the European Union for the development of the cyber security branch, this news alone shows how important Lithuania is on the map of the IT/Tech sector. However, it is important to remember that the basis of the infrastructure favorable to the development of any area is people. “Companies and educational institutions should be more active in training new professionals who can cope with new challenges. The profession of cyber security is already one of the most important and in demand in both the current and the future labor market,” asserts R.Karpaviče.
Considering the fact that the level of threats is growing rapidly, and the training of specialists requires a lot of time and resources, there is already a shortage of security specialists. “The direction of work is constantly changing, as new technologies appear, which also require new security solutions. Various sources say that the need for specialists in this field is expected to increase in the future, as the frequency and complexity of cyber attacks will increase. Companies and educational institutions must be more active in training new professionals who can cope with new challenges,” says the head of KSEA.
