Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will pay an official visit to Turkey, which begins on Tuesday and will last for two days, according to the Turkish government.
“All aspects of Turkish-Venezuelan relations will be reviewed, and steps to strengthen relations will be discussed during the visit,” the Turkish government said in a statement posted on its website in English today, Tuesday, adding that “the visit comes at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.”
“The two leaders are expected to exchange views on regional and global matters as well,” she added.
Since 2018, Turkey has increased its exports to Venezuela, which include food and personal hygiene products. In return, the South American country sells gold to Turkey, but its quantity is not announced.
The two countries signed seven agreements in April during Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s visit to Venezuela.
They did not announce details of agreements related to oil and gas, tourism, sports and other areas.
Cavusoglu said he wanted trade between the two countries to reach $1.5 billion annually, up from regarding $850 million currently.
