The ARBÖ Radclub invites you to the 24th edition of the “Braunauer Radsporttage” on Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th in Braunau. In addition to national and international top stars of the cycling scene, the district capital also offers a great stage for the cyclists of tomorrow.
As in the past two years, the traditional event will open with a children’s bike race on Saturday (4 p.m.). The young riders can also demonstrate their talent and, above all, their enthusiasm for cycling on wheels. The experienced organization team around Erwin Hörtl not only wants to offer the youngsters a great racing experience, but also the necessary safety. That’s why helmets are compulsory for children’s races. In addition, liability insurance is a prerequisite for a place in the field of participants. Last year almost 50 children took part. “I’m particularly pleased regarding this development,” says Hörtl. As a prize, the “little ones” can look forward to a medal and free ice cream.
The focus should be on having fun, and Hörtl says that the children are deliberately not forced to compete. This is then even more the case in the adult races. Among other things, the Austrian Cup races for women as well as elite, U23 and amateur drivers can be seen in Braunau. Traditionally, fast-paced competitions can be seen in Braunau. On average, the cyclists set off at a speed of 46 kilometers per hour.
The road race on the Schlossberg in Ranshofen follows on Sunday (11 a.m.), covering a distance of 130 kilometers.
