The “flower” of the titan arum began to open this Saturday at the Meise Botanical Garden, the park announced in a press release. A magnificent ephemeral spectacle! And this year, the flowering is even more exceptional because the flower measures 255 cm, more than the 237 cm of the previous record which dates back to 2016.
This is the 16th flowering of the titan arum at the Meise Botanical Garden. The arum titan is a rare and endemic species of the tropical forests of Sumatra which presents the largest inflorescence in the world.
