At the Bologna children’s book fair – a successful performance of Lithuanian creators |  Culture

The names of 6 Lithuanian illustrators appeared in the list of finalists of this year’s illustrators’ exhibition, and the works of two artists – Inga Dagilė and Kornelija Žalpytė – were included in the main competitive exhibition of the fair. 3520 illustrators from 81 countries participated in the selection for this exhibition.

April 9 artists Inga Dagilė and Kornelija Žalpytė organized workshops for professionals and children. I. Dagilė’s workshop “Around the world” was held for budding book professionals in The Illustrators Survival Corner (lit. “Illustrators Survival Corner”) fair space, and for schoolchildren in the MAMbo Museum of Modern Art in Bologna.

“At the Bologna book fair, my workshop was held based on the illustrations hanging in the exhibition on the theme of the city. We did the work using the technique I used in the illustrations,” the illustrator shared her thoughts. On the same day, the workshop of the artist Kornelijas Žalpytė for children will be held in MAMbo spaces.

This year was special for Lithuanians at the fair: as many as 3 books won prizes, the works of two illustrators were awarded, and in the fair’s virtual exhibition “Virtual Illustrators Wall” you can find as many as 10 works of Lithuanian creators, available until October 3 of this year. days

The book “Girl with a shotgun” by the writer Mariaus Marcinkevičius and the illustrator Lina Itagaki. The Story of a Partisan Girl” (publisher “Misteris Pinkmanas”) won a special mention award in the “Middle Grade” category of the comics contest, and another book by the writer M.Marcinkevičius and illustrator Ieva Gvazdaitytė “Ilgi ilėrasciai trunmiem” (publisher “Misteris Pinkmanas”) was selected by the commission of the book fair was selected for The Braw Amazing Bookshelf, an exhibition featuring 100 books from 40 countries.

Valentina Černiauskaitė’s illustrated book “The dog that goes out at night” (published by Jurga Vilė, publishing house “700 Eilučių”) was selected as one of the hundred outstanding picture books.
