At Putin’s invitation… Abbas arrives in Russia on Monday

Palestine – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Russia on Monday on an official visit, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, quoted the Palestinian ambassador to Russia, Abdel Hafeez Nofal, as saying, “Abbas will arrive in the Russian capital, Moscow, today, Monday, on an official visit.”

She pointed out that Abbas is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, tomorrow, Tuesday.

Nofal added that Abbas will discuss with Putin ways to support the efforts made to stop the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, and to immediately bring humanitarian aid into the stricken Gaza Strip.

The meeting will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in all fields, as well as a number of issues of common interest, according to the Palestinian ambassador.

Nofal pointed out that Abbas will thank Russia for its support for the Palestinian cause and people at various levels and in all international forums.

The official agency did not provide further details.

​​​​​​According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed since the Israeli army expanded its operations in the West Bank in conjunction with the devastating war on Gaza has risen to 622, in addition to about 5,400 wounded since October 7.
