At least one dead and 13 injured after bus overturn

Civil Protection transferred the wounded to the Hugo Chávez General Hospital.

A bus overturned while traveling on the San Cristóbal-Valera route and fell from a height of about 20 meters. The accident left at least one woman dead and some 13 people injured.

The victim is identified as AM Ramos Uzacátegui, 39, who could reside in the city of Caracas.

The other injured were left under different diagnoses such as abdominal chest trauma or pelvic fractures. Most were from Valera and there was a pregnant woman, who is five months pregnant and had trauma to her left leg.

The incident occurred at the height of the Pan-American highway, in the Alberto Adriani municipality. The transport was a white Nissan Cóndor bus that had left Táchira for the state of Trujillo.

The injured were under the supervision of the group of firefighters from Station 4, del Vigía. Shortly after, Civil Protection arrived at the scene and transferred the injured to the Hugo Chávez General Hospital, while the only person who died was transferred to the morgue.

Officials from the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) reconnoitered the site and were in charge of conducting investigations after the incident. The Bolivarian National Police (PNB) helped in the inspection processes and will be the entity in charge of initiating the investigations to determine the causes of the event.
