Asuncion, IP Agency.- At 16 toll booths managed by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), payments can be made starting this Monday, in addition to cash, with debit cards, credit cards and QR codes.

These posts are located within the departments of San Pedro, Itapúa, Concepción, Central, Cordillera, Paraguarí, Alto Paraná, and Presidente Hayes.

According to the MOPC, the advantages of paying with POS are greater fluidity in collection, shorter lines in traffic, POS devices with unique development for the MOPC, which allows fluidity in payment management, traceability, without losing time looking for change, reduction of management costs in cash withdrawal, timely refund process for incorrect collection if applicable, flexibility for promotional proposals, with banks, cooperatives, etc. and greater transparency in accountability.

The new electronic payments from the date are carried out at the toll plazas of Río Verde (route PY03), Tacuara (PY08) and Guajaiví (PY10) in San Pedro; Major Autumn (PY07) in Italy; Fork (PY05) in Concepcion and Colorado Well (PY09) in Presidente Hayes.

They thus join the 10 pioneering posts that offered electronic payments via POS or QR code since December 2023 in Itá (PY01) and Ecovía in Central; Remanso (PY09), Héroes del Chaco in Presidente Hayes and Emboscada (PY03) in Cordillera; in addition to 25 de Diciembre (PY03) in San Pedro, Caapucú (PY01) in Paraguarí, Coronel Bogado (PY01); Trinidad (PY06) in Itapúa and Iruña (PY06) in Alto Paraná.

Since its implementation to date, more than 270,000 card transactions have been recorded for the payment of tolls, which have been enabled progressively. The electronic payment system is an action that is carried out as part of the agreement that was finalized in November 2023, between the ministerial portfolio and the Infonet – Bancard Network.
